Small Group - Fear / Anxiety

****This group's first meeting is September 29, 2022 @ 6:00 PM**** Fear becomes a problem when a person is afraid of things that are not real or when the feeling of fear is out of proportion to the real danger present. Many times, fears are related to what a person perceives as a threat to his or her safety and security. The person may fear losing his or her job, having his or her home burglarized, or having conflict in a relationship. Fear is an emotion that draws a person into a self-protective mode. Four major relational fears are: fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of abandonment, and fear of death or dying. Anxiety is a constant fearful state, accompanied by a feeling of unrest, dread, or worry. The person may not be aware of what is creating the fear. Anxiety is aroused by a number of factors: external situations, physical well-being, modeling (parents who were highly anxious), and trauma. Anxiety's symptoms can include the inability to relax, tense feelings, rapid heartbeat, dry mouth, increased blood pressure, jumpiness or feeling faint, excessive perspiring, clamminess, constant anticipation of trouble, and a constant feeling of uneasiness. Many of us suffer from fear and anxiety but we try to hide it or we attempt to use defensive coping mechanisms to control these issues. Many times we live with fear and anxiety without ever knowing the reasons why or what caused them in our lives. We simply don't understand what happened and we don't know we can find a path to freedom. You CAN! We will stand by you and please know you are NOT ALONE!
